A Visit To Dandeli Jungle

There is ton of material available on the internet about Dandeli forest and how to go about it but my intention here is to help potential visitor with unknown facts and prepare them for what's to come.

Location

I am providing the link of Dandeli forest just to help you finding approximately where its located. I am sure you will Google your exact destination location after you finalize your stay.

What you might Expect

If you...

1. Are looking for some peace of mind, silent life in remote place

2. Are looking for some adventure activities specially water activities

3. Want to spend some time with wildlife animals surroundings

4. Want alone time with your spouse/partner

5. Want alone time with yourself

then Dandeli is for you provided you consider below.

1.  Resorts play loud music sometimes and disturb the silent life. If you are party person, you maybe ok with it. But if you want peace and want to listen to the Jungle it might not happen. You need to make sure this while choosing resort.

2. All water activities are held in "Kali river". It is deep and black in color, but silent and beautiful. Water activities are good and proper care is taken generally. You may enjoy it if you are ready to get wet.

3. There are some common animals and birds you will be able to see. To see wild animals in their habitat, you need to choose Jungle safari and you need to be lucky.

4. If you choose proper resort, you can get real alone time with your partner and also with yourself.

But...

There is always But.

1. Resorts in Dandeli are far located from each other.

2. They are not always walkable.

3. There are few restaurants and market etc. for eating, shopping. Food is generally served by Resorts as package.

4. People here visit for water adventure. There are many water adventure clubs but remember distances are more. Generally, it can be like 25 KMs, 35KMs in the dark Jungle.

5. Good news.. roads are good.

6. Bad news... there is no telephone network. So if you already have Google map downloaded, you can travel within Jungle. But not easy to make calls. Only BSNL and Jio network works.

What Questions to Ask while booking Resort?

1. What is included in the package? Also what is excluded?

2. How many rooms are there in total? This tells how big is the resort.

3. How many bookings are available. It could be tricky. Resorts owners always mention its full. But in off season, it could be real empty and bit scary but people here are generally good so nothing much to worry.

4. What events are held by Resort?

5. Can they provide bus and person to travel within Jungle?

6. Current weather conditions?

7. Can they book without advance? It is preferable to book with no or minimal charges.

8. Cancellation policy

9. Jungle Safari time (and duration). Generally safari is for 2 hours but wild animals are seen only by first few jeeps as once these jeeps reach they go inside deep jungle.

10. Details of Boat safari. Here important thing to note. Boat sound can be loud and animals won't come in open and won't be seen.

Preparations:

1. Carry clothes according to weather. Specially in winter carry multiple layers as it gets very cold.

2. Carry mosquito repellent

3. Carry water cans and some snacks as it could take time to get food or water.

4. Definitely check your vehicle condition. Carry extra tire. If possible travel with friends and family in two vehicles. As if one breaks down other should be available.

5. Make sure you reach destination before 4.0 O Clock, as it gets dark early in forest roads.

With all above preparations and information I am sure you would enjoy the amazing Jungle stay in Dandeli Forest.

Public Transpotation in Paris

Paris is famous for its museum, for Eiffel tower, as a city of romance but also it is famous for its best ever public transport service. City is divided in various zones. There are four ways of transportation, bus, metro, tram and RER (it is a railway). But the best part is they are well connected with each other. For regular travelers it is possible to buy just one Navigo card. It is the pass or card, by using which it is possible to travel by any of the above means in any zone of the city. So good thing is, it is literally possible to travel at any part of the city without carrying a single cent for complete one month.  Based on zones and the tracks of metro, tram etc. city maps are available. These maps are elaborate and self-explanatory. Once understood how to read, then it is possible to roam at any part of city without opening mouth. Tram or metro are running at every 3 to 5 minutes. So waiting is minimal. Inside the metro, or tram or RER, all stations on that root ...

Mexican food

Wow, I wrote last post 8 months back...time goes so fast. Actually having kids makes us very busy. I have toddler at home and he keeps me and my wife full time involved around him. Our life became so monotonous. I and my wife wanted to have a short break. Recently we were able to get it, finally.  I had nice evening with my wife and with kids, ya they are always with us so far. I am waiting for time when I can go with my wife for dinner alone. 😊 we went to a nice restaurant nearby. And I had great Mexican food. Well I really don't know how original Mexican food looks like or tastes. To be precise I had Indian version of Mexican food and I am loving it. I know that Indian Chinese food have no relation at all with Chinese food in China. Maybe this is the case with Mexican food also. But what I had was really good memorable food. It was all worth for money. I ordered Nachos and tachos. It was perfect. No spicy, very gentle balanced taste, slightly sweet but not much. Tortilla...

Karla Caves

Last Saturday and weekend, we decided to go for a short trip near Pune towards Mumbai at Lonavala (60KM). On the way of Lonavala there is a small tourist attraction. Karla caves. Compare to Ajanta Ellora it is very small. However, the carvings, sculptures never stops to amaze me.  If you start from Pune, then it is 6KM before reaching Lonavala. It takes 15 - 20 minutes trek and you would reach the mountain top to find Karla caves in front of you. It is protected by ASI (Archaeological Survey of India). Number of caves is small probably less than 10 but still they are amazing. If you happen to travel in rainy season, natural waterfalls are active and they are falling in front of caves. Caves mainly can be divided in two parts. One part is temple and other parts are rooms for devotees.  You should certainly plan the visit. It will give you mesmerizing experience and some great memories.  Here are some glimpse of beauty...I am sure you will visit there.
